If you’ve never heard of Seongsu-dong until now, you’re not alone. This trendy neighbourhood is mainly known among locals, and is often called the Brooklyn of Seoul. On the weekends, you’ll find lots of young millennials coming here for craft coffee and organic restaurants.
My main intention for visiting Seongsu-dong was to try Grandmother’s Recipe, a Michelin-recommended restaurant that serves homely Korean cuisine. However, what really caught my attention was Today’s Enough, an espresso bar located right opposite Grandmother’s Recipe.

The space is very warm and cozy, made even better with the inviting aroma of coffee.

This espresso bar takes their name very seriously, with a small menu that only comprises of coffees and biscotti. In the past, I may have shuddered at the limited options, considering that I took all my coffees with an unhealthy dose of milk and syrup. However these days, I have come to better appreciate black coffee and was delighted to try these espressos.

I ordered the Caffe shakerato, which is espresso coffee shaken over ice and mixed with a little sugar or syrup. I’m not sure if I had been drinking too many subpar Americanos and cold brews in Korea (they’re very popular, relatively cheap, but also incredibly bland), but this Caffee shakerato was hands-down the BEST coffee I ever had in Korea. The espresso shot had a rich, roasted flavour that was well paired with the subtly sweet crema.

If you belong to the crowd who has to take your coffee with some milk, the White is also a good choice, although I still think their expressos are the true winners.

While we didn’t stay here for long and left after finishing our coffees, there were other patrons who stayed on to enjoy the beautiful Saturday afternoon with their espressos and biscottis. You’re welcome to stay on and slowly catch up with friends over coffee for the afternoon, without having to worry about taking up space and being chased out.

Today’s Enough is still relatively new (they just opened in 2022), so I’m not too sure if they’ll consider expanding their menu, but for now I do think that their espressos hit just the right note and make for the perfect break after some intense travelling. If you’re in Seongsu-dong, do drop by for an espresso ~
